Specialties
During my nine years of working as a therapist, I have worked with a wide variety of people. I have received specialized training in trauma-informed care and couples counseling. While I’m comfortable working with almost anybody, I have found the most success working within these specialties.

Anxiety over-estimates the likelihood of something bad happening and underestimates our ability to deal with it. I use a practical blend of mindfulness tools, cognitive-behavioral therapy and humanistic approaches to help clients get a handle on excessive worry, obsessive thinking and the compulsive behaviors that can accompany these issues.

Many LGBTQ+ people feel that they need to choose between their sexual or gender identity and their religious faith. They may face challenges such as non-affirming communities, family conflicts and internalized homophobia. I believe that coming out can be a spiritual journey. I love working with LGBTQ+ individuals to examine their belief systems and reclaim their spiritual lives.

Conflict is a healthy part of any relationship. The question is, are you arguing productively? I am trained by The Gottman Institute to teach healthy communication skills that help couples to understand conflict dynamics and build healthier communication skills.

Stuck in a repetitive cycle of intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors such as hand washing, reassurance seeking, counting or checking? I can help you break the cycle using a combination of mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy and gradual exposures.

Many of us learn to prioritize the needs and approval of others at the cost of our own mental health. We have trouble saying “no” and seek external validation at the cost of our own desires and needs. I work with clients to understand the connection between past experiences and these habitual responses. Then, we relearn healthier ways to relate to others using healthy boundaries, assertive communication skills and a healthy sense of self.

Shame is often the root cause of issues ranging from unhealthy drug and alcohol use to relationship issues. I help people who struggle with chronic shame to reframe negative thought patterns and discover the freedom of self-compassion.
